TOTEN Island
Just on the face of Tanga port lays these magnificently isle named by Germans early settles "Toten",the island has some old graves on it with some abandon few structures and currently people fear to construct modern houses due to its geological reasons,it's only a mile away from the mainland, one can assess it by the use of boats or the Swahili dhow type.Fisherman's are using it for there activities and the locals community shy away from it as they to believe it can easily sink due to its size and the strong Indian ocean water waves.
RASKAZONE Pier
These pier which extend deep into the Indian ocean waters forms parts of abandon sites in these historical town,it located off bombo hospital road in a quite area along the shoreline.
Another interesting place is in Kisosoro area on the Raskazone bay shoreline where a tanker ship lays, here one can see these big tanker ship which has been around for years and some other ship wrecks around it.normal in morning hours the sea water is low and one can easily walk along the beach and site seeing.
Just a long the beach near the Tanga harbour is fishermen centre where the locals resident and fish dealers trade on daily catches from the sea, here there lot of abandon dhows on the shores and a visitors will be more explore the real Tanga Swahili fishing market and activities by local fisherman's as they dock there dhows for fish trade.
Close to Mombasa road there is an early missionary Orthodox church which is to in kisosoro area some few metres from seaside and the Catholic church in Tanga.these church sit on perimeter ground idle and looks very attractive as its form part of the early Christianity missions in these Muslim predominate coastal town of east Africa, all these area can be visited in a day depending on how an excursion plan his or her activity of the day and all places are located close to the Tanga harbour.

Mombasa to Dar es salaam road trip.

The East Africa coastal cities are well connected via road network with readily available bus transport playing the coastal routes. One can travel as from Lamu on the tip of northern Kenya coast to Mtwara down the southern coastal town of Tanzania by buses as a means of transport or even through the air and water transport.
For one start his journey from Mombasa to Dar es salaam city by a bus one has to cross the Likoni channel by the use of the Ferry services whereby all passenger use the ferries free with exception of the vehicles .

Here all passengers on board the bus have to disembark from there bus and cross the ferry like other passengers as it is not allowed for buses to cross the ferry with there passengers on board, these is only with tour vehicles which they got special arrangement.
For the first time passengers it's real a good experience to have a view of the Kilindini harbour and Mombasa island from the ferries while crossing the channel. The ferries are big enough to accommodate a lot of passengers and vehicles of all sizes.
A cross the channel the bus will wait near a filling station until all passengers are on board again then proceed to the lungalunga/horohoro boarder point,it can take less than two hours to be at the boarder depending with traffic a long the Mombasa Lungalunga highway.
As always at the boarder the migration officers are friendly and ready to assist travellers such that it's not a hassle for passengers, normal one has to carry a passport and a yellow fever vaccine card for East Africans and other who required visa for entrance in Tanzania need to sort these with embassy or travel agency or sometimes can be done at the boarder.
After all clearance the bus head to Tanga town some like hundred kilometres drive,Where most of these buses operate some offices and to exchange passengers for those going to Tanga and Dar es salaam.
Here in Tanga town all buses has to pass through the new Tanga bus terminal located some five kilometres in Kange, the bus here spend few minutes then proceed to Dar es salaam some three hundred and fifty kilometres, normal the weather a long the coastal of east Africa is warm and passenger need to put on warm weather clothing to avoid the sunny heat, the route takes through some trading centres like Segera,Mkata and Chalinze.
Also through the Wami escarpments.
Dar es salaam it's a warm city and the highest populated city in Tanzania followed by Arusha,Mbeya and Mwanza cities.Buses travelling from Mombasa in the morning hours always arrived in late afternoon at Ubungo bus terminal, around Ubungo there plenty of hotels and lodges just with the bus terminal and these makes it easier for one to check in,as Ubungo is to located close to the town centre these makes it idle for travellers and it's to advisable to check in where one is sure of transport and security while in such big city.
