The gate way of east Africa is always a first choice for many visitors coming from upcountry region,the town centre part of treasurer square is one area that many visitors wont miss as it has an aroma of old Mombasa town with a warm atmosphere for visitors,it's within the town and easily access from the main avenue of Digo road and Nkrumah road, in it's surrounding their some few restaurants and hotels which are affordable with both local and other types of cuisines,there is a big cathedral stands right on the round about between Digo road,Moi avenue and Nkrumah road which also give an excursionist a text of mixed religion within the island community.
Down the Moi avenue is the big Turks stands besides the famous Uhuru gardens and Moi avenue,these is also the main symbol of these warm city a long the Indian ocean shores,many visitors love to take some remembarence pictures within the Turks and dinning around some restaurants close by,the place is close to town centre and few metres from Mombasa and Coast Tourism Information office centre.
Off Nkrumah avenue close to the treasurer square stands the historical monument of Fort Jesus,built during the ruin of the early Portuguese sailors in 1600's,currently is one of national museums and a main tourist attraction in today Kenya,it's also within the town outskirts and a walking distance from town centre,the Fort is besides the old town and old harbour such that an excursionist has a lot to experience.
Bamburi beach or well known local as Kenyatta public beach is another place too,these must visit beach by upcountry excursionist is located out of the town and main Island to the north of the county almost ten kilometres drive pass through the new Nyali bridge,the beach is one of the must visit to many visitors especially from upcountry, is to with lot of activities during holidays season,Kenyatta beach also is famous with Camel rides,water sports and it's shores a good for swimming,for many people these is a place for family visit and weekend recreation.
On new Malindi road besides the new shopping centres of city mall and new Nyali Nakumatt shopping complex stands these natural Haller park,here it's a place that if one hasn't have a chance to visit some of the big national parks can see some of the animals like Hippos,Giraffe and others,these park one can have a chance to feed the Giraffe's and view it at a very close range,there to some different reptiles like crocodiles and snakes,one can have a walk within these park and is free to take photos as many as he wish,the park can be accessed from town centre, it's less than ten kilometres on the same way to Bamburi beach,local transport known as Matatus pick and drop passengers right at the gate and there is a small entrance fee for the park.a good excursionist can visit all these within a day out of a good plan and enjoy the warm climate of Mombasa county at the coast of Kenya.
